(Photo by Assawin Pinitwong)TAK: Thailand and Myanmar have launched a joint border patrol along the Moei River for the prevention and suppression of smuggling of drugs, labour-trafficking, military-grade weapons and other law-offending activities. Taking part in the joint patrol on the Thai side are soldiers from the Mae Sot-based 14th Infantry Regiment and 35th Ranger Regiment and Tha Song Yang-based provincial and border patrol police. Patrolmen on the Myanmar side are from the 28th Battalion of the 22nd Division and a Karen border guard force (BGF). The joint patrol was launched on Sunday morning, with four long-tailed boats, along a 14-kilometre stretch of the Moei River between Ban Mae Salit Luang in Tak's Tha Song Yang district and Ban Mae Song in Tha Song Yang district.
